How do I bring back faded brass?
I have an old vintage Bush radio. (50's-60's) with brass trim.
As of the age, it had built up some quite stubborn dirt and dust.
I cleaned it using an abrasive cleaner (it was the only way it would come off. Now, the brass looks more of a silver colour yet is lovely and clean and shiny.
Is there any way of bringing back the 'brass' colour to it?
i think the trim is not brass but more likely to be plated metal to give a brass effect, if this is the case the polishing has removed the plating , and the only way to restore it is to have it re- plated which would cost more than the radio is worth.
